software will not connect using ELM327. Gives a java error IOException error.
Would like to add that I have read that Pin 7 is for iso-9141-2 and pin 15 iso-14230-2.
There is no pin 15 on the connector is this the problem?
this is the exact error I receive after unable to connect to device: java.io.IOException: bt socket closed, read return: -1
any help would be greatly appreciated...

Issac,
As for the problem I was having and was all fixed when I bought a quality BAFX Products Elm327 Bluetooth OBD2 reader. Now everything is great... Just like advertised... Would like to know if there is a way to lower idle. Have 2002 maxima, but when I try to decrease it tells me it is not supported... I can probably figure something out, but was just hoping you knew a quick fix.... Product is awesome.... Most problems people probably have I would suspect is from junk elm327/obd2 readers...
Thanks for your support..

Glad it worked out for you.
As for the Idle Adjustment, engine has to be at normal operating temperature (above 170 Fahrenheit). You can only increase Idle Rpm. You can try cleaning the throttle body and perform idle relearn to get the idle rpm within specs.

Using cheap ELM327 with galaxy s3 and fabia 2004. This hardware works fine with Torque, but Car Gauge Pro gives me the same exception: java.io.IOException: bt socket closed, read return: -1
Any hints?
Thanks! Jan

I work around the java io error by un pairing and then pairing my elm 327 bluetooth adapter again. On a few occasions rebooting the phonewas the only way to sort out the issue

I manage to connect to ELM327 but only after fresh reboot of my Android operating system. i have a GMC Envoy 98 It connects to the ECU but doesn`t connect to ABS, and this was the reason why I bought it, I have Torque and is working excellent for ECU but not enhanced OBDII. I`ll appreciate your advise.

Any final solution to this? I tried restart and repair and they didn't help. It doesn't ask me for pin code! Is that normal?

I`ll appreciate your advise. I've been running torque and car gauge, I figured out that torque needs to be shut down to connect car gauge, but I can only run standard tests. Anytime I try running something specific, it fails. I bought this BAFX scanner and the app to run transmission codes but I can't get anything. I have a MAF problem and O2 sensor problem. But I already knew that from a standard scanner that only checks powertrain codes. This makes no sense.
